CCA AGM & ADU

Yes, it is that time of year when your Crestmont Community Association (CCA) has our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Area Development Update (ADU).

Last year was a record turn-out and we are hoping this year will be similar.  Not only are we going to have drinks and snacks generously donated by Servus Credit Union in Bowness, but we are also going to have lots of information and updates on all the developments that are going on in and around Crestmont.

Please join us on Friday March 16th at 7:00pm at the Crestmont Hall.  Also a great time to renew your CCA membership so you are ready for another year of fun CCA events like the Neighbour Day Block Party, Crestmont Clean-up, Crestmont Kids Day and the Kids Halloween Party.

Our website will always have the most up-to-date information so please bookmark: http://CrestmontCommunity.org

Thank you to all those who joined us at our AGM this year.  Below is a link to the slide deck for those who have been asking…

AGM Friday March 24

Crestmont Community Association AGM

Please join us on Friday March 24th at 7:30pm for our Annual General Meeting.  This past year was the most active and eventful in the history of the Crestmont Community Association.  We held or participated in a record number of events (eight):

  • Police Safety Chat
  • CCA & VRCA Community Garage Sale
  • CCA & HOA Neighbour Day Block Party
  • Crestmont Cleanup
  • Kid’s Day
  • CCA & HOA Movie in the Park
  • Kid’s Halloween Party
  • Crestmont Christmas Market

In addition there was a significant amount of work accomplished on your behalf by the development committee.

Please consider throwing your hat in and volunteering for us this coming year.  All board positions are always open at every year’s AGM.  This year we are looking for a Secretary and a brand new position to be filled that we are calling “Event Coordinator”.

If you have ever wanted to give back and add some valuable board experience to your resume, please consider joining us on March 24th.  For more information on being a board member, or just volunteering in general, please contact us.  We look forward to another wonderful year and you are all a major part of our success.

Development Committee Presentation

At this year’s AGM you won’t want to miss the development committee‘s update.  Did you know that there are several major development projects going on around Crestmont that directly impact you as a homeowner?  We have updates and information on all of them.

We will also have snacks and plenty of information to share so please join us!  Check back here as we get closer to the end of march for any updates.

Crestmont Kids Council

We invite Crestmont kids ages 13 – 17 to join the first ever Crestmont Kids Council (CKC).  This is a great opportunity to learn new skills, get some great experience for your resume, and give back to your community while providing a voice for the youth in the community.  Come to the AGM and throw your name it for the CKC.

Thank you,
Al Del Degan, CCA President

What to Expect when you’re Expecting…

new-housingHello Crestmont community, we are expecting more neighbors as the Crestmont West development plans continues along its way.  What does this mean for you?

Nothing right now, it will be likely 2018 before we see the first houses in West Crestmont, although much work can occur before this time.   Completion of this development is expected 3-5 years after commencement.

On October 18th during Qualico’s town hall meeting we learned the planned community garden will not be ready until 2018 so we are investigating other community garden opportunities.  Also, in the plan are tobogganing hills in the park area.  Do you and your family want toboggan hills?  The plans use to have water fountains in this large park area.  Please let us know your feedback, share with us your comments on Facebook or send us an email.  It’s very important we hear from you because we have the opportunity to influence these plans to get what we want.

There are currently 473 homes in Crestmont as per the 2014 census.  The new development will add 517 new homes.  Even with Crestmont’s future planned expansion, we will continue to be a unique community holding one of the smallest community populations. Crestmont community’s current population is only around 1,379.

Stay tuned for more. The Calgary West ASP will anticipate going to Calgary Planning Commission in November, likely the 20th and a Council public hearing in January 2015.

Want to find out more about development? Join us on November 20th at 8pm at the hall, for our next CCA meeting. Your vote counts!

Sincerely,
Amy Hen
CCA President

Crestmont Community Call to Action

This Monday, Calgary City Council will vote on an issue that will cause major changes to our
community. They will vote on building a new retail center larger than Market Mall right at the
bottom of the hill where the current interchange is.

This development will force all traffic (residential, commercial, retail) into one single intersection.

The result will be longer commute times and jeopardize emergency access to and from our
neighbourhood.

View a map of the proposed development.

A Message To Crestmont Residents

Dear Crestmont Resident,

As you may be aware, Qualico is planning to submit a change to the West View Area Structure Plan which defines how future development west of the current limits of Crestmont are conducted.

As representatives of the community, the Crestmont Community Association is frequently called upon by the City of Calgary and our developer, Qualico, to provide input and feedback to the plan.

The board of directors of the Crestmont Community Association feel it is important to represent your views, along with ours, during these discussions.

If you are interested in providing us some feedback that will assist in understanding the perspectives of the community, please click visit our website crestmontcommunity.org, and click on the link for the ASP Survey.  It is a very simple 10 question survey and should not take more than a couple of minutes to complete.

You may also want to bookmark this link where we frequently post news or information relevant to the community.  You can find us on:

If you wish to participate more directly in this process, please send an email to info@crestmontcommunity.org.
